Common questions

Which formats are supported?

Compression: JPEG, PNG. Format conversion: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP. Animated images (GIF, animated PNG) and unsupported formats are skipped — the app never silently drops frames.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Image processing runs entirely on your Mac and does not need a network connection. The app uses Firebase to track crashes and identify frequently used features so we can improve the product. There is also an optional update check (Sparkle). See the Privacy Policy for details.

Will it overwrite my originals?

Never. Compressed files go to a separate folder. Originals stay untouched.

What are the system requirements?

macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. Apple silicon Mac (arm64) only; Intel Macs are not supported.

Are all features free?

Yes. Compression, format conversion, and Finder integration are all free and ready to use after installation.

Do I need an account?

No. Download and install MediaSlim, then drop in your images to get started.
